Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

1. Introduction

TheWorldVote ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website worldvote-phi.vercel.app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our service. By using TheWorldVote, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the service. When you cast a vote, submit a topic, or post a comment, we collect: (a) A hashed (one-way encrypted) version of your IP address — stored as a SHA-256 hash, which cannot be reversed to identify you. (b) A browser fingerprint — a combination of anonymous device and browser characteristics used to prevent duplicate votes. (c) If you post a comment: your chosen nickname (public), the content of your comment (public), and the hashed IP address associated with the comment. We do NOT collect your real name, email address, phone number, or any personally identifiable information. Nicknames are chosen freely by users and are not verified.

3. How We Use Your Information

The hashed IP address and fingerprint are used for: (a) Preventing duplicate votes on a single poll. (b) Rate-limiting comment submissions to prevent spam. (c) Detecting and blocking abusive users who violate our Terms of Service. This data is never used for advertising, profiling, or tracking across external websites.

3a. IP Blocking

In cases of repeated abuse, spam, or violation of our Terms of Service, we may add a hashed IP address to a block list. Blocked IPs are prevented from posting future comments. The block list stores only the SHA-256 hash of the IP address — the original IP address is never stored and cannot be recovered. If you believe your IP has been blocked in error, contact us at theworldvote9@gmail.com.

4. Data Storage

All data is stored securely on Supabase, a cloud database provider with enterprise-grade security. Hashed IP addresses and fingerprints are associated with specific votes and comments only and cannot be used to identify individual users. Comment content and nicknames are stored as plain text and are publicly visible on the platform.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services: (a) Google reCAPTCHA v3 — to detect and prevent automated bot activity. Google's Privacy Policy applies. (b) Google Cloud Translation API — to translate vote titles into English. (c) Supabase — for database storage. (d) Vercel — for hosting and deployment. Each of these services has their own privacy policies.

6. Cookies

We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. Google reCAPTCHA may set cookies necessary for its operation. These are functional cookies and are not used for advertising purposes.

7. Data Retention

Vote records (including hashed IP addresses) are retained as long as the associated poll exists. When a poll is deleted, all associated vote data is also deleted. Comment data is retained until manually deleted by an admin or the user. IP block records are retained until manually removed by an admin.

8. Your Rights

Because we do not collect personally identifiable information, we are generally unable to identify or retrieve data associated with a specific individual. If you have concerns about your data, including requests to remove comment content you posted, please contact us at theworldvote9@gmail.com. Note: we cannot verify the identity of requestors due to the anonymous nature of the service.

9. Children's Privacy

TheWorldVote is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.

11. Contact

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at theworldvote9@gmail.com.
